Principal’s Message

Greetings Kennedy King Families!

Welcome to a new season and school year at P.S 219. We welcome all new and returning families to our team and are truly eager to continue our work together. I am excited to announce that I have the distinct honor to serve you as school Principal

A little about me:

My name is Cierra Robinson Williams. I bring over 14 years of educational leadership to P.S. 219. I have served in various capacities, including teacher, Dean of Students, Director of School Culture, Assistant Principal, and Principal, leading educational workstreams including instruction, social-emotional learning, safety, and trauma-responsive and restorative practices. My accolades include increasing student performance outcomes, solidifying a five-year SUNY renewal, overseeing the implementation of the Common Core/Next Generation standards, and championing a school-wide assessment and data analysis system. I attended Stony Brook University where I earned my Bachelor and Master degrees. My educational philosophy is grounded in love and wisdom. I deeply believe, “every child will succeed.”

On a personal note, I was born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. I currently reside in Canarsie with my husband and our four beautiful daughters. P.S. 219/Kennedy-King holds a special place in my. heart as this was where the journey of education started for my late father-in-law. My favorite quote has guided my life's purpose: “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.” —African ProverbWhat I love most about cultivating a school community is establishing authentic love, joy, and support to ensure that we are a family. We’ll love hard and encourage authenticity. I can assure you that our school is a safe place that is welcoming, joyful, and inclusive. Our students are the primary focus of our community. They are at the center of every decision made. Our talented teachers and staff members are always ready, willing, and able to go above and beyond to ensure each child's success. Our school is truly a special place.

Every school year presents an opportunity for a renewed sense of focus, energy, and purpose. As we continue to grow, I am committed to ensuring that our school always pursues excellence. We will maintain high academic standards and a focus on social-emotional development through the following:

• Instructional strategies that encourage inquiry and information gathering through reading, writing, listening, speaking, and observing; Habits of discussion led by scholars
• Identifying, analyzing, defining, and solving problems
• Continued use of technology and positive digital citizenship habits
• Daily scheduled time in which scholars engage with a social-emotional learning curriculum and participate in peer-to-peer socialization skills
